Abstract
The first wave of COVID-19 is estimated to have started in March 2020 and ended at the end of May
2020.
• The second wave of COVID-19 is estimated to have started at the beginning of September 2020; there
was an initial peak in mid-November after which infection levels decreased before rising again in
December following the emergence of the Alpha variant; the wave peaked in early January 2021 and
ended at the end of April 2021.
• The third wave (Delta) July to September 2021. Vaccination recommended for all adults.
